Overview
For this project, I needed to create a brake using a set of instructions and a plan with the dimensions.
Inventor
I started by creating a 2D sketch containing a rectangle and the holes. I later had to trim the top corners of the rectangles and replace them lines going through the outer circles. I used the tangent tool to connect the line and the circle, creating the corners shown in the plan. My finished sketch is shown below.
I then extruded the sketch. I had to make another sketch and extrusion for the outer circles. To round the corners, I used the fillet tool. The finished brake is shown below.
What I Learned
During this rotation, I learned about the CNC mill, what it does, and how it works. I had never heard of one before. I also learned how to design a part for it. Finally, I was further familiarized with Inventor and learned how to use some new tools.
