Notebook Covers
To create the covers, I replicated my sketches using the images on one artboard. I made sure that the sections meant to be engraved were all black, and the parts that were supposed to be cut out were red outlines with 0.0001 stroke weight. There are also empty spaces inside the arrow that were not in my sketch. These parts also were not meant to be engraved.

2D to 3D Object
I started by browsing Thingiverse for 3D objects I could make out of 2D shapes cut out with the laser. I eventually decided to make a rocket. I put it in Illustrator and changed the dimensions so it could be put together with the available materials due to their thickness. I also made sure the stroke weight was correct so it would cut out properly.

What I Learned
While making these projects, I learned many things. I furthered my understanding of how to create files for the laser cutter and how to use more tools in Illustrator. I also learned that the laser can be used to make 3D objects, not just 2D objects.
